Brixton’s quieter neighbour is centred on Brockwell Park, one of the loveliest in London. Popular with first-time buyers and young families attracted by its lovely old houses, they are in turn encouraging vibrant shops and restaurants. Some history here: Herne Hill Society.

Myla & Davis

This is the first hairdresser on Secret London, but it stands out for its stylish decor and its role in helping revitalise the formerly-dingy Railton Road. A lady’s cut & finish will cost you £48 and a gent’s haircut £35 – a sign of just how upmarket this area now is.
